Graco does great things, but is the Nautilus 65 LX also a great product?
The Nautilus 65 LX 3-in-1 car seat with Graco’s belt reinforcement is both sturdy and cute. The company prides itself on the fact that this 3-in-1 chair is the last one you will ever buy because it is suitable for children up to 120 pounds (in a reinforced chair). Although universality has caught my attention, sustainability and safety have retained my interest. Although it is a good choice, there are some problems with the car seat that can disappoint the parents.
Safety first, as always
We all know you need a good car seat for your baby. Even my grandmother, who comes from a generation that throws children in the car seat next to you and hopes for the best, always asks me if I bought a good car seat for my little love. After all, many years (and several accidents) have taught them how important it is to ensure the safety of their most valuable passengers.
Steel for safety. The safety of the Nautilus 65 LX is unmistakable. The Nautilus LX is designed using SafeSeat construction solutions for durability and reliability. The plastic frame is combined with steel parts for safety. You know that any car seat with a steel-reinforced frame will be a fairly safe choice, but it weighs up to 20.52 pounds, so moving from one car to another is a bit of a routine.
Test and recheck. Graco has carefully tested this product to make sure it is completely safe. It has been repeatedly tested in accidents and even for safety in side impact collisions, which is not (yet) required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It has been independently tested by the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) to prove that it can withstand an accident with twice the national standard. It therefore meets or exceeds all safety requirements in the United States.
Impact mounting. The Nautilus car seat is made of polystyrene, a type of foam that absorbs shocks. That’s great, because it helps your child cope with the damage of an accident (not to mention keeping a very energetic baby upright in the seat!) This foam in combination with 5-point harnesses means your child is safe in the event of an accident.
If you can’t stand the heat…The company claims that the car seat is designed to withstand the high temperatures in the car during the hottest months. This is important, because on hot summer days the car can reach 125 degrees Fahrenheit or more. Although the company claims to have explained this, complaints have appeared on the NHTSA website that the buckles deform under extreme temperature conditions, rendering the car seat unusable until Graco sends replacement parts. It’s certainly worth thinking about if you live in a sunny spot.
Can he really grow up with your child?
Okay, this car seat is really safe. It’s pretty clear. But what about another bestseller: the different modes? It seems that the switch is simple and easy to use. Once you understand exactly what you’re doing.
Meets even higher standards. This 3-in-1 car seat is designed to bridge the transition from an ordinary car seat for older children to a seat with a safety belt to a seat with a backrestless belt. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children remain in a car seat as long as they can sit safely, according to the manufacturer’s height and weight restrictions. Then at the same time they have to move to a chair with a raise. Ideally, children, depending on their size, are a kind of booster up to 8-12 years old. This car seat meets all these requirements at once.
Smooth transition. It goes without saying that this car seat must be disassembled so that it can function in all phases. Both the company’s website and the Amazon website contain instructions for converting the chair. Because I don’t have a car seat at hand, I’m a little confused by reading the instructions. So like any modern mother, I went to YouTube looking for a video that would show you how to do it. Surprisingly, it seems simple enough. You can go from a car seat to a raised seat in about 5 minutes. Belts that are no longer needed can be hidden in the storage compartment of the belt so that no additional belts can circulate. Also, no tools are needed, which is good news for those of us who have, uh, mechanical problems.

Equipment: Simple, but with some frustrations.
I haven’t met a car seat I don’t like to put in my car. Between my children, my brothers and sisters, my cousins, I used my part of the car seats. The Graco Nautilus seems to be no exception for disappointing car seats.
Relaxing and lying down. There’s nothing worse than watching your baby’s head swing uncontrollably during car sleep. This car seat with 3 lying positions is designed to prevent this problem. The inclination of the car seat only changes one centimeter, which was not enough for me. If you have a large MPV or SUV and you can really tilt it, it can work better. Otherwise it looks like you’re taking a nap and shaking your head to stay.
Lock or belt? As if the parents have any other questions, you have to decide if you want to tie or buckle that car seat. Attachment is a recommended method to ensure safety. The Graco Nautilus is doing very well, but it never seems to be tight enough. The cradle may not be as comfortable and reliable as some parents with OCD would like, especially when folded. There was a slight vibration from front to back as the child climbed in and out of the seat, even though it was locked.

Belts and buckles for parents who hate belts and buckles
By analogy with the installation of the car seat, the child is installed in the car seat. I think all parents spent a big part of their lives pulling the rope with the seatbelts they won over and over again. Too tight, too loose, twisted – all this creates problems in terms of safety and comfort.
Easy release cassettes. Adjusting the 5-point belt (also called the car seat belt) in this car seat is very easy. Even if it’s too easy. Just putting on the straps seemed like a challenge. I think the straps are so connected to the seat, but it took real muscle strength to tighten them.
No repetition! Hallelujah! If you’ve ever spent an hour pulling those sneaky seatbelts into a bigger slot for your growing baby, you’ll appreciate it! With a simple movement you can adjust the straps upwards as your child grows. There’s no need to take the whole seat out of the car. Just grab your hands and lift the entire headrest and shoulder straps. It’s a new idea in car seats, but I hope it stays.
Lower loop. Graco clearly wanted the Nautilus to be suitable for growing children. That’s why the lower buckle (you know, next to the crotch) adjusts outward to make room for a bigger baby. But moving the loop is painful. The company says it should be easy, but after the fight the hammer had to hit the buckle to comply. It’s a little ridiculous for a belt that has to be easily adjustable.

Characteristics for your child
The most important audience for car seats are definitely the parents (I’m looking at you, car wash cushions!). Graco Nautilus LX 65 also means children. Here are some things your child will love in this chair:
- Profiled armrests – because children want to be comfortable too!
- Removable body support cushions – , but not too comfortable because they are now big children.
- Colours – Choose a colour suitable for girls or neutral.
- Cup holders – of which the value is inexplicable while traveling.
- Sugar room – is suitable for treasures or snacks that are just as important to your baby.
As with other Graco car seats, reactions to this chair are consistently high on major websites. There is a lot of feedback, so these figures are given with a high degree of confidence.

Car seats sold in the United States are safe. They meet or exceed federal safety standards. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) assesses each car seat from a usability perspective because the risk of injury resulting from incorrect installation and use is greater than for the seats themselves.
The Nautilus 65 received an overall rating of 4 stars in forward mode and 3 stars in forward mode.

When it comes to 3-in-1 car seats, the Graco Nautilus LX 65 is a good choice. You get a safe place at an affordable price. The car seat is suitable for children up to 65 kilos and the amplifier supports children up to 120 kilos. You never have to buy another car seat or booster seat again. You can wash the cushions in the car, and you don’t have to put the straps back on when your baby grows. Although minor irritations may occur if the seat is properly adjusted, you know that your child will sit safely and comfortably in this seat.
