Nice option on the Graco fault-free line, but is it the best option for your child?
Most of us love Graco baby products. And the Graco Contender 65 convertible car seat is no exception. It apparently has excellent features such as security, adjustability, ease of locking, a good locking system and comfort. These functions are also simple. But perhaps some of these features, such as the bolt, size and other advantages, are not as important as they seem.
Safety first
Ask any mother or father and they will tell you that the most important thing they care about with children is safety. Car seats are the pinnacle of stress versus safety. With Graco Contender 65, every parent can be sure that their security base is closed.
Seat safety technology. It’s a weird label Graco puts on all his car seats. But what does that actually mean? This means that safety had the highest priority in the development of this car seat. It’s about more than just surviving an accident. This means that the National Road Safety Agency (NHTSA) tests the double safety standard. It also provides safety in the event of a side impact in the event of unpleasant T-bone accidents. This thing’s definitely holding up during the accident.
Other safety equipment. In addition to its obvious ability to withstand accidents, this car seat is equipped with EPS foam. This light foam is extremely comfortable for your baby, but also a fantastic energy absorber. This means that the impact of the accident is absorbed by the foam, not by the growing child. The last safety feature I like is the ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Where I live, it hits triple digits in summer, and in winter it’s way below freezing. (Funny, huh?). I don’t have to worry about the plastic or buckles of this car seat breaking under the tension of different temperatures.

Conflict with convertibility
Now that you know how safe this car seat is, you might want to take a look at this convertible story. After all, this could be one of the main sales arguments for this car seat. Let’s talk about what this car seat can do and how easy it is to do.
Stadiums. This convertible top distinguishes itself from the other car seats because it only has two steps: one forward and one backward. The back is for small children weighing between 5 and 40 pounds. The front fairing is designed for children weighing between 20 and 65 pounds. It is not possible to install a booster chair, a belt guide or a backless booster chair on this chair. So you have to buy it for the first years of your child’s life and another place for his or her later years. The price reflects that. I think this car seat is still a good deal in the long run. Since the weight limit is important for the back, your child can stay back up to 2 years, as suggested by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Not much brain power to refresh our parents. Turn the car seat over. Hooray for the simplicity! All you have to do is change the anchor strap guide. Open the plastic cover, change the belt supply, close the cover and secure the seat. If I could follow the instructions and take care of it myself, any parent would be able to!
Light snapshot ?
Speaking of seat belts: The locking mechanism of this car seat is so simple. I had a car seat that could be secured by the wind (Safety First Alpha and Omega Elite Car Seat), but most car seats I use require some muscle strength and a lot of hope for the best.
Tie him up. The locking system of this car seat is very simple once you have attached it. It works just like all the others I’ve used: you slide the straps into the anchor tube and the car seat must be securely fastened. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and watch this handy video. Although, in my opinion, it was a little difficult to put on your belt. Even after really tightening the anchor belts (including sitting on your lap in the car seat and pulling them out of all power), they are somewhat weakened. I wouldn’t want to push this car seat too far back and forth, because the large shape in combination with a clever locking mechanism would be a big disappointment.
Levelling of seats. A good feature of this car seat is the easy-to-read fill level indicator on the side. It’s also a real level, and not just a few printed lines. It helped a lot when I used it in the back. I tend to keep the car seat upright, but this level indicator has helped me to keep it where it should be safest. It’s not a huge bonus or anything, but a good assistant for parents who, like me, want to check every locker.
Folding system
I’m the police with the buckles. I will be the first to point out the problem of the folding system, because for me it is an important part of the daily use of the car seat! It should be easy to fasten your seatbelt to get my approval. This loop system is really very good and has convinced me.
The mounting system is easy and safe to adjust. This term is a creative way of telling Graco that you don’t need to read your baby’s seat belts and harnesses. It is equipped with a five-point harness, which is adjustable in length for this type of convertible child seat. It’s great that the headrest and the safety belts are combined in this car seat, so you can adjust the height of the seat in one go. All you have to do is lift the release lever on the top of the car seat and slide the headrest and seat belts up or down. That’s it! I don’t have to spend an hour every few months unfastening the straps and reading again. I love that Graco gave me this difficult task. It is also easy to tighten and loosen the whole belt with a strap and a lever at the front. I didn’t have any problems.
What I don’t like. The whole thing without proofreading is fine, but that doesn’t leave much room for adjustments. I feel like the straps on my long, boyish body were too high or too low. I found belt marks on her neck/shoulders several times. Moreover, now that he is older, he has complained several times that the lower buckle sinks into his childlike details. There are two positions for this lower loop, and we can’t move it any further at the moment. Maybe that’s what I get for having a bigger boy I like tied up and tense. In any case, it wasn’t a serious concern or a frequent complaint from my son.
Comfort
As it is not a terribly expensive car seat, there is no long list of accessories included. For example, the chair doesn’t panic. But the possibilities are great and useful for the child and the parents. That’s what he’s got:
- Winner of Cup. There is a fixed cup holder on the side of the device. Perfect for storing bottles when the back is up and perfect for mugs or regular cups when they’re face to face. I wish it was a little bigger, but it serves its purpose.
- Detachable support. If I’m going to put a newborn in this car seat, I’m going to wait until it’s full enough. Filling the Graco Contender 65 is easy… …very simple. It’s not the softest chair for small children, but I don’t have to worry if the baby is comfortable. Moreover, you can still remove the filling later on.
- Clear! I like the car seat, which I can easily remove. The upholstery of the Contender Convertible car seat is removable and can be washed in the car. The buckle and straps can be cleaned. Graco even gives simple instructions for cleaning a delicate loop. No excitement about cleaning at the highest level.

Usage Reviews
While the safety of our children should always come first, we should not dwell on the differences in safety between the brands of car seats. They have to pass stringent federal security tests before they are sold in the U.S. market.
Take a look at this list of the best car seats.
However, incorrect installation or use of the car seat can lead to safety problems. For this reason, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awards user assessments to each car seat (see below). The simpler and clearer the instructions, the more likely it is that your child will wear the correct belt every time.

Double Final
If you want a car seat with an extremely long lifespan and lots of frills, you will want to look elsewhere. But if you want a simple car seat with real safety for the first few years, the Graco Contender 65 convertible is for you. It is super safe, has 2 easy to use steps, has an excellent belt adjustment system and offers a number of advantages such as a cup holder and filling for the machine wash. A system of locks and seatbelts can get you into trouble, but your parents can’t handle it. In general, the price of this good and reliable car seat is good.
